From one of our mentors:
“It s clear that the learning at Mulberry School comes through the children’s engagement. The children are so engaged, the learning and discovery comes through in their inner desire – not from outside pressure.”
- Jane Nelsen, Ed. D; author of “Positive Discipline” series of books.
Thoughts from graduates:
“Now that I’m in college, I realize that Mulberry was where I learned how important social skills really are. Even as young kids we were learning to have empathy and to problem solve in a group.”
“One thing that I have learned though all five of my years at Mulberry is that it’s so important to be true to yourself – no matter the place or the time. This is a piece of Mulberry that will always stick with me.”
“Mulberry is the only place where teachers nurture you as their own. Later on you don’t get the chance to have the same kind of connection with your teachers. I still feel like I’m part of Mulberry – and the teachers are now my friends.”
And from a parent:
“Mulberry is my tribe. It’s our home away from home. I’ve had two kids at Mulberry, preschool through fifth. One graduated, the other is in fifth grade. After 10 years, all I can say is I am one happy customer. The academics rock — so much interdisciplinary learning, so many hands-on projects, and such a great balance of teaching styles. My son loves math, and was a full year ahead in math when he got to middle school. And the art projects! My kids have experienced so many different media. I love the social learning, too. Children learn how to work out their problems in a model that isn’t punitive, but positive. By the time they graduate, their social EQ is off the charts. And then there is the community — it’s an awesome group of people totally committed to their children’s education. This is not the kind of school where you drop your child at the curb and only see the teachers at conferences. This is the place where you become part of the team, totally focused on the kids’ learning, sleeves rolled up and ready to work.”
School choice statistics:
Approximately 25% of our graduates continue on in private middle schools, while 65% head to public middle schools and 10% enter faith-based middle schools.
