These community building events provide opportunities for Mulberry families to come together and enjoy each other's company. Each event has a coordinating committee, made up of parents, which complete all of the pre-planning for the event as their school-wide committee obligation.  Families who sign up to work an event work up to 4 hours to serve food, sell tickets, decorate, or clean up.

Friday Morning All-School Sing & Friday Morning Coffee

Friday Morning All-School Sing (children and parents) and Friday Morning Coffee (adults only!) in the courtyard – Children and parents look forward to this weekly ritual.  Lead by the upper grade music specialist, Arlene Zarou-Cooperman, Friday Sing is a time to come together as a community and sing old favorites or learn new songs together.  A parent committee makes sure there is coffee and snacks to encourage conversation in the courtyard.

Book Fair

In the Fall and Spring, Mulberry holds a Book Fair for the entire school.  It is an opportunity to buy books at a reasonable cost and for teachers to replenish their in-class libraries.  It is usually held for 4 consecutive days.  Parents help to set up and take down the book fair each day, and work morning, mid-day, and afternoon shifts assisting in the sale of books.

Fun Run/Spirit Week

This annual event includes many fun activities and ends in a big Fun Run up on the play yard, for both Elementary and Preschool children. Parent help is needed for stamping the run cards, tie-dying, advertising and decorating.

Harvest Celebration

This beloved Fall Celebration with a visit from Mother Earth happens every October using some of the vegetables from our Garden Boxes. All the classes cook goodies to share and create a crafts or game table.  Parents are needed for set-up and clean-up of the event as well as helping at individual craft booths during the event.

Science Fair

This Spring event highlights the scientific minds of our elementary students.  Elementary students create a variety of projects exemplifying all aspects of scientific discovery.  True to Mulberry, the science fair is "hands on" learning.  Parents set up tables, assist children in setting up their projects, and clean-up.

Dust off your blue suede shoes for this much loved event!  This is an evening to dance to the music of the '50's, participate in bubble gum blowing and hoola-hoop contests, and have a generally great time.  Parents help decorate, serve food, sell admission tickets, and clean-up.

Spring Sing/Young Author's Fair

This combined Spring event celebrates the culmination of the elementary students' yearlong music program, and their literary work.  Families picnic while each class performs.  Afterward, everyone tours the classrooms and multi-purpose room to read the student books and poetry displayed there.  Parents assist in setting up tables, decorating, serving refreshments, and cleaning up.

Steppin' Out

This is Mulberry's grand annual Spring fundraising event, with profits going to Mulberry's Scholarship and Capital funds.  This is a fabulous 'adult only' evening of delicious food, fine wine, and dancing. The highlight of the event includes silent and live auctions made up of items and services that have been donated by local merchants and the Mulberry community.  Parents are needed to set up for and to clean up after the event.
